37.11 USA Grumman F-14A Tomcat, 1/72 scale Airfix kit 3056, Smithsonian Series 1998, NIB Open with parts in factory sealed plastic bag, Paints, glue and brush are included but I can’t guarantee that the paints and glue are still good.

The Tomcat is a supersonic, twin-engine air superiority fighter.  It was developed after the collapse of the joint Air Force/Navy F-111B project.  The first flight of the F-14 was on 21 December 1970 and the plane was introduced into the Fleet in December 1974.  It was to replace the F-4 Phantom II.  A number of F-14s were export to Iran for the Imperial Air Force when were still on good terms with that country.  The principal service of the F-14 was as a fleet air defense fighter to prevent any enemy aircraft from getting within range to fire missiles at the US ships.  It was used strictly in this air superiority roll until after the First Gulf War in which the A-7 and F/A-18 squadrons performed the air-to-ground operations.  With the impending retirement of the A-6 Intruder aircraft an additional aircraft was needed for the attack capability.  The F-14A upgraded the TF30 engine to the F401-PW-400 engine.  This engine was carried over in the F-14D in which there was added newer digital avionics including a glass cockpit.  A total of 712 Tomcats were built.  The F-14s were retired from active fleet duty with the fleet on 22 Sept. 2006 being replaced with the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.  Some of the early F-14s are still in service with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force.

Terms and Conditions

We accept PayPal and eChecks.  Payment is due within three (3) days of the end of auction. We will ship within five (5) business days of receipt of payment.  Insurance is optional, but recommended as we will not guarantee the shippers handling of the package.  Our primary shipper is USPS.  We will ship the least expensive of the options unless directed otherwise.

Please, let us know if you need the item for a special event or by a specific date and we will assist in meeting your schedule.  Remember that first class and priority mail takes 2 or 3 days, and parcel post or media mail takes 6 to 10 days.  Express mail can be done overnight if everything comes together and second day if it doesn’t.  Please E-mail us if you have any questions

We have been advised by the US Post Office that shipping anything to South America is risky and there is a good possibility that the item will end up on the black market.  They recommend that the package be shipped with a “return receipt” and that gives the best chance of the item arriving.

A Note on our Shipping and Handling.

Our shipping and handling (S&H) is based on the size and weight of the item plus an estimation of the weight of the packing materials.  This gives us the amount the USPS will charge to ship the item, we then add two or three dollars to cover the purchase of boxes, packing material and our time and mileage to pack and ship the item.  This means that while we may charge you $9.00 for S&H the price that you see on the postage when it arrives will likely be 6 or 7 dollars.  It doesn’t mean that we’re trying to scam you or otherwise take advantage, it’s just what it takes to cover our costs in running this store.

We do customize S&H charges for multiple item shipments based on the combined weight and size of the items plus weight and cost of the box, an estimation of the weight of packing materials, and $1 for each item to cover the packing materials and the drive to the Post Office.

In order to do this takes a bit of time so please give us five (5) business days to ship your item.  If we run into any additional delays we will let you know just as soon as we can.
