Introducing the HardTimes Black Eye Series from Robot Underground

POWER PLANT:

The HardTimes series is about value and performance.  So to yield this obscene value, the motor is recycled from a famous maker giving you access to really high performance at a fraction of the $598 MSRP.

This motor really packs a punch.  High quality Y-35 material is used.  Dual 3/4" x 6.5" slugs are coupled to gether with blacked out 1010 grade steel.  This is very much like the popular TC Sounds TC9 design though the diameter is a bit smaller so you'd think that it would have as much motor force.  Well like Digital Designs does.  Use a popular size motor but then go with a tighter gap.  You can get more Bl product out of that same magnet with no extra cost.  You may get some rocking at high excursion but due to the suspension it will be kept around 2".  Bl product is great and stays in the mid 20's.

This sub uses a modified version of the coil from the TC-9 aka Orion HCCA 10D2 and 12D2 but in a dual 4 ohm configuration.

The coil is American Made and uses four layers of high current, round copper wire on an anodized black aluminum former.  Wind height is a standard 40mm which is also used on many Fi, RE and SoundStream subs.

DIAPHRAGM:

Ask and ye shall receive.  We had many requests for the high end look of the TC Sounds OEM cone but with a lower price point than the ultra excursion subs we build.  The 'OEM' cone is a dual wall Nomex honeycomb build. So now you get the cone upgrade for half of what we sell it for alone.  This is the same cone used on the Lightning Audio Storm series, built by TC Sounds.

SKELETON:

We went with the standard 12 spoke frame used by MTX originally, then Memphis and now by many brands including RE Audio aka Resonant Engineering, Fi Car Audio, Ground Zero, TC Sounds, Audio Pulse, Sound Splinter, RD Audio, DC Audio, Pierce Audio Products, AE Speakers, Elemental Designs, Sundown Audio, SSA XCON and many more.  This frame has been semi-gloss powdercoated and is available on it's own in our other listings.

SUSPENSION:

We developed our own spiders for this project and use some of the finest materials available.  We use a single ultra quality spider instead of multiples of cheapie spiders like some makers do.  We went with heavy stitched leads instead of woven that compromise the strength of the spider and eat away at it over time.  We use an impact and heat resistant epoxy for the triple joint where the voice coil, spider and cone meet, as well as the outter edge of the spider.  We actually developed a way to achieve more excursion with less spider too.  This spider is also for sale on it's own in our other listings.

FINISH:

Love the smooth look of the new BlackJack brand 180mm poly caps.  These are PERFECT for decals... Speaking of which, the Black Eye logos were not yet to us at the time of this listing but we will include one for each sub.. And as usual it's optional.  We do encourage you guys to resell and rebadge these for yourself and mark up as much as you like.. No 100 driver min like the other guys.

WARRANTY:

We no longer warranty our subs.  First, we fully test each sub as part of the approval process so we know they work when they leave our facility... So yes, guranteed no DOA!  If you get the sub and hook it up in that special way with one voice coil out of phase and cook the coil, even though you cannot smell the coil, you have killed your sub. (I myself have performed this action several times.)  Always do a polarity test with 12v power or even a 9v battery to ensure that the cone jumps out.  (Out means you have pos to pos and neg to neg, thumbs up.  If it jumps inward you have the coils hooked up right you just have the power source, (12v or 9v), hooked up backwards, swich polarity to cure.)  If you try and send it back with this, 'defect', you are a douchey dummy and will be treated so because this is not a defect you douchey dummy and should take responsibility for your doucheyness by buying a new one or a recone kit / service.

Second, these subs are priced way below market value.  This gives you the opportunity to resell these for a little profit installing these for locals on Craigslist... This was one of the reasons I started Robot in the first place.. To empower the ShadeTree Installer.

Third, as much as we love to argue about what is a defect, many users are not aware that when the voice coil melts, (aluminum melts at around 1200 degrees farenheit.), this is abuse.  So we just chucked the warranty and encourage you guys to make a little money by selling these non badged, high performance subs.  Demo them in your own ride and let it rock!

Lastly, if you are indeed a short sited, little baby consumer that doesn't see the opportunity here and you just want cheap subs for yourself, you can buy some sort of warranty through eBay.  Not good enough?? Go to Best Buy and buy some of their gear that you can blow up and return.

The irony is that we had the same warranty policy as all other brands but for some reason people still didn't agree with it.  Sorry to let the idiots/a$$holes make the rules guys but that's how the world works right now.
