New York: The Macmillan Company, 1903. First Edition, first printing. First issue vertically-ribbed cloth. Good, lacking dust jacket. Pages show smudging, spots and wear. Binding is slightly fragile. Missing plate on page 29, all other illustrations present, small tear to the edge of one plate. Exterior shows wear, soiling, rubbing. Front board seems to have a faint dampstaining causing a bit of waviness visible also front the front paste down, rear board has two small punctures to the cloth. Edge wear, with fraying at corners and top and bottom of spine. A worn, well-loved copy of this rare classic.
