Here’s an original dbx 208 (209) RMS Detector module, carefully tested and fully guaranteed. The leads are about 1/4" long. This module was used in many dbx models and 3rd party products over the years. Applications included the dbx 160 and 161 "VU" compressors, many of the dbx 900 series modules and dbx compressors, SSL, MCI, Harrison and Sony consoles, etc. A wiring diagram showing a 208 module and VCA will be included with each item. (Note: the dbx 208 is interchangeable with the dbx 209, which is nearly identical.)

The model 208 is actually an RMS Detector and a log-linear converter in one package. The input terminal is a "current input" and requires an input resistor. It is compatible with the dbx model 7 and 202 VCA's, which are both available through our store. The model 7 is the original VCA, that was used in the original dbx 160 VU series of limiters. The 202 is a later, more stable version that was used in many dbx, SSL, and other products.

Specs are:
Supply voltage: +/- 15 VDC
DC output constant: -6mv per 1 db change at input
Response to small increment on a steady signal: 35 millisecond time constant
Response rate on removal of input signal: 120 db per second
Increment rate for large increase in signal: 80 db per millisecond.
