This is an updated mainshaft, 5th gear, updated 5th gear nut and a complete rebuild kit for the Dodge 4x4 NV4500 transmission. This will only work for a 2WD vehicle!

This transmission has an iron case with an aluminum top cover! This transmission usually comes in the 94-ON Dodge Cummins Turbo diesel truck. Some examples of cast numbers that are found on this transmission include "C-18157" or "C-23167". These are just examples, there are many different cast numbers found on the Dodge NV4500 transmissions.
This kit includes all new high quality bearings, seals, gaskets, high quality lined OEM synchro rings, an updated mainshaft, updated 5th gear nut, a new mainshaft 5th gear and the spring and keys.
The Dodge Cummins Diesel is so powerful that the torque will eventually work the 5th gear nut off and you will lose 5th gear. This updated mainshaft and updated nut is designed so that the 5th gear nut will not work itself off. The updated shaft is fully splined under 5th gear and the gear is held on with two half moon washers for extra support. The updated nut is also supported by two set screws that go into the threads on the mainshaft to prevent the nut from being able to spin off.
PLEASE NOTE: This transmission uses a 3 piece 1st and 2nd gear synchro rings. The outer rings and the inner rings are NOT included in this kit. This kit only includes the middle fiber lined 1st and 2nd gear rings because they are the only pieces that wear. We do stock the inner and outer synchro rings, so just let us know if you need them and we can add them to your order for just the cost of the rings if sent with your kit.
