DESCRIPTION:

Japanese samurai sword part of Koshirae - TETSU (IRON) TSUBA (sword guard) with fittings, MIDDLE EDO PERIOD - (1700-1750)

It is in good antique condition.

KATANA sized MARU GATA (round) TSUBA - It is the AIZU-SHOAMI style, northern Japan.
It is made of iron with very nice TAKABORI carving typical for this shoami style tsuba.
It has GOLD and SILVER NUNOME inlay.
The theme of the tsuba is a landscape with water waves and chrysanthemum flowers and foliage.
The nunome inlay is worn in some places but still very nice and visible.
