As we haven't been able to find the history of Esper and their cycles, we would welcome information that anyone can offer.

This cycle has been cleaned and serviced. 

The pedals and crank run smoothly with no noise or play.  The original bottom pump bracket has been replaced with a newer substitute.    

Mid 1920's Esper racing cycle. 

This fabulous old bike has some wonderful features which we don't see very often and are quite unique to the 20's decade.  

• The flip-flop rear wheel.  With no derailleurs or gear changers, the rider would move the chain over to the next sprocket by dismounting (very time consuming during a race) or with his toe.  Often, this didn't have a happy ending!  For the fourth gear, the rear wheel is removed, turned around and replaced.
• Automatic chain oiler.  A reservoir, in the down tube, is filled with oil, via the filler cap.  The spout is twisted toward the chain to oil and twisted back up to turn off.

Condition of this cycle.

The painted work is original and there is no rust. 

The nickel detail on the fork crowns are in excellent condition and the fabulous Cobalt Blue Enamel Brass head badge is surprisingly still there.

Collection & Delivery.

This cycle will be partially dismantled when packed, to ensure a safe journey. You will need to know or know someone with some basic knowledge for assembly.

You can collect or we can post, either from the UK or France.
The postage indicated is from France.
If you would like to collect in person the cycle will not be dismantled. If you would like to arrange delivery from the UK, the charge will be different, please email.
