Antique Meissen Hand Painted Figure Cherub ‘Un me suffit’ One Heart Enough circa 1870s
Antique circa 1870s, Meissen hand painted porcelain figure ‘Emblematic of monogamy’, an imposing cupid/angel covered with a blue colored silk cloth, standing by a circular podium decorated with flower wreath & holding a single flaming heart, the triangle base shows the motto in French “Un me suffit” -- One is enough. The figure modeled with naturalistic body shapes & life-like colors. Designed by M. V. Acier, late 18th century. Overall good condition, restoration to front of the triangle base, right hand shows minor restoration, paint touch up to the stump. Chip to the edge of the blue silk cloth.
