Currents set over 500mA will need heat sinking since these are linear they dissipate extra voltage as heat. Heat sinks must be used on top of the IC and also resistors on the back. Please use non-conductive thermal epoxy when heat sinking the resistors as they will short out. Be careful when soldering wires not to create any solder bridges to any other components since this board is very tiny!
Please note that you must stay above total voltage drop of the regulator to stay in regulation. Please take account regulator voltage drop (~0.8V) + resistors voltage drop (V=IR) + laser diode voltage drop. In most situations 2 x 3.7V lithium ion batteries will be sufficient.
