QUALITY IMPORTED CHESS SET

An expertly crafted chess set with chessmen imported from India, and chessboard from China. This set features chessmen and board, all of fine woods in tournament standard size and desgin, with elegantly sculpted knights.

THE CHESSMEN

The king of this set stands 3.75 inches tall, with a 1.4 inch base.
The pieces are made of sheesham wood on the dark side, and boxwood on the light side.
They are weighted, and felted on the bottom for smooth contact with the board.
The entire set of chessmen alone weighs approximately 2 pounds.

Boxwood is well established as the preferred hardwood for chessmen, due to its natural grain, luster and density. It is one of the few woods that actually sinks in water.
Sheesham wood is also known as 'golden rosewood' or 'honey rosewood.' It has long been among the most highly esteemed natural dark grain hardwoods for fine game pieces.

THE CHESSBOARD

The chessboard surface is made with a natural walnut and maple veneer, protected with a matte finish.
The board measures 17 inches across, with 2 inch playing squares.
These boards are made in accordance with modern manufacturing techniques. The core is a sturdy fiber board, which is covered on all sides by the finest grain of select hardwood veneer. This provides the maximum strength and wood grain quality, while minimizing weight and warpage of the playing surface.
