I designed these magnificent Wicca tomes to supply the need for ceremonial altar books. They will also serve as large Grimoires and Books-of-Shadows. The vintage leather is not distressed, but it has a deliberately matured and 'medieval' finish.

This is a hefty A4-size leather-bound tome. I designed it to serve as a Wicca Book of Shadows, Grimoire, or personal journal, but it will also make an excellent Guest Book or Album. The cover is hand-tooled with a sacred PENTACLE design

The cover is made of vintage buffalo hide, stained with an organic mahogany brown dye. The pages are unlined heavyweight cartridge paper. The binding is a traditional Italian stitch, which ensures durability and long life.

The cover size is A4 (30x21cm or approx 12x8.5 inches), and the book is 7cm thick at the spine. It contains 200 pages/400 usable sides of cartridge paper. (For US customers: ISO A4 corresponds approximately to US Letter Size). This is a heavy item and will weigh approx 2200gms when packed. (For US customers: that is equal to approx 5lbs)

The leather is of a heavy quality, and is thick but supple - and it has the look and feel of genuine leather, with plenty of the 'character' features associated with vintage hide.

As with all my books, this book is handmade from 100% renewable and recycled materials.

I love working with leather, but for ethical reasons I only use vintage leather for my books- ie leather from working animals that have come to the end of their lives.

I hope you will be happy with the quality of my books. If not, you are welcome to return them to me in as-new condition within 14 days of receipt. I will refund the purchase price, less postage.

My Ethical Production Policy

It is my policy to produce books from natural and renewable materials that will have a minimum impact on the environment.

I use exclusively water-buffalo hides, cow hides, and goatskins from mature animals that have come to the end of their working life. No animals are bred and slaughtered solely for the purpose of producing leather for my books.

To tan leather I use a natural tannin wash as an alternative to the highly toxic chromium salts commonly used in tanning. This natural tannin dye occasionally leaves a small residue on the surface of the leather, and some dye may appear on your hands on first handling of a new book. This is entirely harmless, and will cease altogether on further handling when the dye stabilizes. I hope you will agree with me that this is a small price to pay for a method of production that avoids poisoning our environment.

My handmade paper is produced without the use of bleaches and other toxic chemicals commonly associated with paper production.
