This exquisite calling /dance card case dates to the 2nd half of the 19th century . It has been crafted in mother of pearl, and has a beautifully embellished silver border and a monogrammed silver cartouche at its center Either OM or DM? The case is lined in blue silk moire and has a compartment on either side to slip your cards into. There is also a thin pencil in the center. The openings for the cards are large enough to fit a standard modern business card. Wouldn't it be fun to keep in your purse for that purpose.The measurement closed is 3 3/4 x 2 3/8. This tiny little treasure is in a well preserved condition for age and type with one small loss to the left front corner of shell..the fabric is in relatively good condition with minor wear .Truly a lovely decorative as well as functional item.
