Stinking Water Plume aka White Plume Agate is found near the Stinking Water creek, in eastern Oregon. This area, east of Burns, is quite famous for great rockhounding. It has white to yellowish plumes in a milky white nearly transparent agate. This slab is polished on one side, left natural rough around the edges. It has several natural small surface pits and fracture lines. It is translucent in the middle with white plumes.

Agate is a member of the chalcedony family, or a microcrystalline quartz, and it has a hardness of about 7 on the Moh's scale. The name is derived from its occurrence at the Achates River in southwestern Sicily. Plume Agate gets its name from the beautiful plume like shaped inclusions.
