A rare Victorian Ridgway's pottery Sardine box and Cover, decorated in their Old Derby Imari pattern. It's cover has a slightly moulded form decorated with leaves, flowers and a butterfly and sardine. surmounted with a beautiful cobalt blue fish handle, the whole enriched with gold. Its base is similarly decorated. It has the Ridgways name and their quiver and bow mark, which dates it to between 1880 and 1900. The cover measures 5 3/4" or 14.5 cm long and 5" or 128 mm wide. The cover is in good condition, the base has a very old stapled repair, see photo's 11& 12. I have other kitchenalia listed, including more Sardine Box's and will combine postage.
