For many centuries the sighting of a "white butterfly"
has met different things to different cultures; pure joy and
prosperity, good things to come, good luck/good life, blessings of
spirits and past souls, angels watching over you, resurrection and hope,
love and joy in marriage, immortality, transformation, change and
freedom and oh, so many more!
Have you ever had the privilege of seeing a white butterfly? Not a moth, a butterfly?
I can clearly remember the very first time that I saw one. I remember it as if it were yesterday....
I was a tiny little girl, playing in the grass in our backyard, trying
to catch grasshoppers. When suddenly out of no where, a beautiful white
butterfly glided right past my nose! It landed on my mother's yellow
rosebush. I gazed at it with amazement as it fluttered and spun in
circles. I thought it was beautiful, more beautiful than all of the
colorful ones I had seen. Immediately a rush of contentment, calmness
and extreme happiness filled my heart!
I had forgotten all about the "white butterfly" and the way I felt
whenever I saw one, that is until I heard about the Chilean miners.
Remember? There was 33 of them trapped in the bowels
I will refresh the memory of some and share the story for the first time with others:
One of the 33 miners, Jorge Galeguillos, penned a story to his brother
that will no doubt become a part of Chile's history and folklore.
It was early afternoon on August 5th and Galeguillos was heading back down into the mine aboard a
Galeguillos slowed the truck down so they could take a closer look.
That curiousity stopped them from driving headlong into the rockfalls
triggered by the initial massive collapse. "Down in the mine, I don't
really know what that butterfuly was. Maybe it was a little angel
passing in front of them...a little god saying, "Hurry up, there's
danger down there," Eleodoro Galeguillos said. What he does seem sure
of is that the butterfly protected the lives of his brother and his
friend. After the dust settled, Lobos and Galeguillos were able to
maneuver around the rock piles and reach 31 fellow miners, who were, by
then, huddled for safety in the 50 square meter refuge on Level 100.
Just hearing about their experience and their close brush with death
sends chills down my spine. But the 'white butterfly" now that is the
REAL story, in my opinion. It truely was a Miracle. (miracle: something
which man is not normally capable of making happen and which is
therefore thought to be done by a god or God.)
Now you know the story of the White Butterfly! Please share it with others! Each one will come with a card that reads; The Bearer of this Blessed Butterfly shall be....Protected by Angels, Lucky in Love & Happy in Life. Blessed by 3 True Wicca, (in honor of the miners) and Blessed for; Protection, Luck and True Happiness.
