Disc 2
"US NAVY's USS Skate SSN-578."

This DVD is about Fleet Submarines of the US Navy.  Starting with the Salmon Class, than the Sargo Class, Than the Gato, Balao and finally the Tench-Guppy Class.  These boats were called Fleet Boats because the could keep up with the Big battlewagons of the day.  There is some very rare footage of the Salmon and the Sargo class boats in this DVD plus 21+ min's of misc submarines of the day, like the launching of the V-6 Nautilus in 1930, and the Submarine Mothball fleet.

1st film: "USS Skate SS-578 To North Pole".  This film was produced in 1941 and shows the early Salmon Class and the Sargo Class Submarines like the SS-180, SS-182, SS-183, SS-186, and SS-187.  Plus a V-boat (probably the Agronaut) which was the largest Diesel submarines ever built by the US Navy.  SS-186 is on practice manuevers again the Pacific and launches 2 torpedos at one of our big battleships in the Pacific Fleet.  Great footage of submarines and life aboard.  Runtime 9:33 Min's.

2nd Film: "USS Skate Newsreels".  This film show a lot of realy good footage of a Gato Class submarine and her crew.  From school to functioning in a sub at sea.  Great film.  Runtime 8:16 Min's

3rd Film: "Nuclear Submarine Footage".  This film has been around but our version is in pretty good color.  It is the story of the Silent Service and how it got that way.  Mostly about Gato and Baleo class submarines in the pacific War with Japan.  Great film.  Runtime 10.55 Min's.

4th Film: "Plymouth to Polaris".  I think we all know about this film.  It is part of the Victory at Sea series and It is Public Domain so I thought was very important to put it with these other films.  Runtime 28:08 Min's

5th Film. "Nuclear Navy Subs & Ships".  1. Cameraman risks life for photos.  2. Calsons Raiders on the Argonaut.  3. British Subs Sinks Nazis--Mediterainian.  4. Italian newsreel reveals old Subs and Guns.  5. Captured Nazi Midget Sub Footage in English.  6. US Navys PBYs use Sonar to find Subs.  7. Turkey Gets Gato class US Subs.  8. US Navy tries out Midget subs for harbor protection.  9. USS Grayback on display.  10. US Navy Trieste makes historical Dive.  12. Anti submarine drills with South American Navy.  13.
