Large Signed Japanese Imari Porcelain Charger w/ Character & Landscape Scene







   

This large Japanese Imari charger is decorated with a raised enamel designs including ascene of a bearded man standing beside a scene of a pagoda with a character and a mountainous landscape bordered with red and white floral designs. The remaining borders of the charger is decorated with large flowers and what appears to be a robe or a sash cord. The flowers and rim are highlighted with gold gilt. The reverse is decorated with beautiful floral designs. It has Chinese marks on the back that read "Greatest Ming Chenghua Made" and dates from the late 18th Century to the early 19th Century. It measures approximately 2 + ¾ inches high and 17 inches in overall diameter. It is in excellent condition with the exception of some wear on the enamel and gilt, a few scratches, and minor peppering, as can be seen in the photos.
