This is an U.S.A. made small old plane by “Stanley”. Because of the small size, this tool is very practical for delicate and precision work. It is great to smooth a surface with great control over the amount of material being removed. It has a fine diamond sharpened cutting edge. This tool pattern is still manufactured today, though this cast iron base and overall craftsmanship just can’t compare with most of the imports. Old quality. No rust.

√    The blade is marked: “STANLEY”; “MADE IN U S A”. Approx.: 9 cm (3½”) long x 3.2 cm (1¼”) wide. The tool has the original paint showing base metal, scratches, black scale and pitting.

 

√    The blade has been finely sharpened and it has a straight edge with the right angle; smooth to the run of a finger nail. Neither chips, dents nor cracks. For cutting, it should protrude has a little bit so it does not bite on the wood.

 

√    The cast iron pieces are all in good shape, showing no cracks. The adjusting screw is knurled with no marring. All threads are good and the screw holds the blade firmly in place.
