Item: For your consideration we are presenting a fantastic one-of-a-kind atomic ball lamp with accompanying fiberglass shade from the 1950s. We're not 100% certain if this was a home project or what, but it is very cool!  The base is made of wood, and attached to it is a wire mesh screen that mimics the same wavy appearance of the base. Intersecting the wire mesh screen are a series of atomic balls in different colors that appear to be circling the orbit around a nucleus.  The smaller balls are held in place by thick, slightly pliable wire chords. The fiberglass shade is beige in color, and it has random black and white paint swirls painted onto it.

Measurements:  With the shade attached, the lamp stands approx. 30.5" tall (from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial). Approx. 19" tall to the light socket. The silver wooden base is approx. 16" wide x 6" deep x 2" tall.  The fiberglass shade measures 16" in diameter across the top, 18" in diameter across the bottom, and is 11" tall. The wavy wire mesh screen that is attached to the base measures approx. 12.5" tall x 12" wide. The silver wooden nucleus sphere measures approx. 2" in diameter, while each of the 8 smaller electrons circling the orbit measure approx. 1" in diameter. Condition: Overall, the lamp is in very good vintage condition with no major problems to report - no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, dings, repairs, etc.  Not sure if the base was originally silver in color - it may have been re-painted at one point in time.  Either way, it looks out of the world (no pun intended)!  The fiberglass shade is free from rips, holes, tears, burns, etc.  The lacing is intact, and appears to be in good shape. The electrical wiring looks to be original and is in fine shape - no frays, splits, exposed wires, etc.  As with all vintage electronics, we'd suggest having the wiring checked before longterm use.  The lamp still retains the original felt on the bottom of the base. A stellar addition to one's atomic ranch or mid century modern abode! It's ready for use and/or display.
