Here we have an amazing Bernhard Bloch or Johann Maresch tobacco jar/humidor in the form of a playful Gnome on top of a toadstool engaging a slug crawling up the side. Fantastic detail with original patina. Numbered IV on the inside. RARE, RARE, RARE! Very good condition with some minor flaking and paint ware that, in my opinion, only adds to the character of this piece. A few chips on the inside rim of the base that do not show from the outside. Measure 8" tall x 4-1/4" in diameter. C. 1890. Unsigned.
