This masterpiece combines Cherry Blossoms and Maple leaves, as symbols of Spring and Autumn. Tiny pieces of gold foil is applied on the cap to depict three traditional Japanese designs: a water stream, a hemp leaf and a golden stripe. Additional Maki-e techniques and imagery are featured on the barrel along with tiny pieces of abolone shell used to create the beautiful Raden stripe. The Harikiri technique, considered to be one of the most difficult Maki-e techniques, is also used in the silver area offering a dramatic and beautiful finishing touch to this exquisite pen.

Each fountain pen has the Pelikan logo on the crown, a limited edition number and the artist’s signature drawn in by hand using maki-e techniques. The Pelikan M1000 fountain pens are masterpieces with finely-chased 18 carat gold M nibs, accentuated with a rhodium decor.
