This 100%
guaranteed authentic particular example was manufactured at the French arsenal
of Chatellerault. This French sword is stamped. The blade is engraved and made
by A.Chassepot in Châtellerault (rarity) and the ricasso is stamped with two
French Inspection marks »*C« and »/B« within individual circles.
Ox horn hilt with original filigrane "twisted-brass" wire. Chiseled
brass mount, guard with single pierced branch. This kind of sabre was still in
service for officer during WWI.
Very good condition.
This type of sword would have been worn by the Adjutant of a French Infantry Regiment.
