A signed limited edition woodblock print titled, Melodious Wall B
circa 1971, by Japanese printmaker from the esteemed Sōsaku-Hanga
school, Hiroyuki Tajima (1911–1984).
Tajima is best known for his
abstract woodblock prints that feature luminous colors, bold
compositions and a strong sense of balance inspired by his Zen Buddhist
beliefs. This woodblock print depicts two red rectangular forms
overlapping one another with several light blue accents throughout and
one brown rectangular forms in the center, which is displayed on a solid
dark brown background.
This piece is pencil signed and dated by the
artist in the lower right margin with the edition number “50-34” in the
center and the title in the lower left corner, written in English and
Japanese. The print has a single white mat and is housed behind
plexiglass in a simple metal frame with a wire for hanging to the verso.
Frame
size is 40.5" tall, 29 " wide. Don't know exact dimensions of woodblock
since it is in the frame but woodblock through frame is 35" x 23"
