Antique Edwardian period bar brooch/ lace pin made of carved oxbone, i.e. bovine bone in design of roses set on brass metal back bar with hinged pin and C clasp.
Colour is creamy white and texture is like soap with natural inclusions in the bone
Size: Overall LONG = 1 and 7/8 inches long
WIDE = 1/2 inch wide
Condition: Overall excellent Antique condition, original pin is good opens on its hinge and closes well on its C clasp. See close-up photos for detail.
This brooch is an antique, original made as a bar brooch or lace pin to be worn on a collar or on a hat to hold lace in position. It was made of ox bone/ bovine bone carved in Austria or Switzerland as a tourist trade trinket and bought as a souvenir at the time of what was known as the 'Grand Tour' by English tourists visiting Europe.
