Beautiful Vintage French Day Bed Cover~Dessus de Lit

I adore these lovely vintage fabrics that I find made into daybed covers here in France. I think 1920's/1930's housewives must have followed the same basic pattern because I see quite a lot of these covers with a delightful shaped head end, just right for traditional bolster pillows. I must say I think the beds look so “finished” when made up in this very neat manner.

This cover has all the details that make it perfect for a country bedroom or day bed.

Pretty pink roses and green foliage on a soft grey and white stripe, such a charming pattern, set off with apple green passementerie trim which emphasises the shape for the bolster and the valance sides. There is very slight fading to one side though it is hardly noticeable and just adds to the prettiness of the overall colours and pattern. This cover has been made for a bed against a wall so the valance is on one side and at the foot end. The wall side has a 5 inch “tuck in”. Alternatively, this fabric is strong enough to be re-purposed and would be good for upholstery, cushions, curtains etc.

Measurements are: Length: 69/70 inches (175/178 cms)

Width flat: 49” (125 cm) plus 5 inch tuck in on one side, and plus the valance which drops at the foot end and all along one side, see photos, is 15 inches (38 cm) deep.
