- I am a luthier who is building mainly classical guitars for about 30 years. I am using and selling ONLY QUARTERSAWN selected by hand sets which have been dried for at least 5 years (rosewood)/8 years (spruce) in my workshop.
- Red Spruce AKA Adirondack Spruce is mostly respected by professional builders as a perfect tonewood for guitar tops.
- These tops are very stiff and has an excellent tap tone. It is very difficult to get Dread sized Adirondack sets so the wide grains and deviations from Q-sawn pattern along the top are pretty typical.
- Take into account all wood GRADING IS VERY SUBJECTIVE. Examine the pictures each set. What you see is what you get!!!!
ONLY ONE SET out of all pictured!!!! Nice waterfall grain you can see at picture 4, horizontal rays indicate perfectly quartersawn wood withour runout. Looks like light small bearclaw.
