The inhabitants of the Kalahari Desert have been using the root of the Devil’s Claw for ages as a traditional medicine.  Modern science has now recognised that Devil’s Claw has pain relieving qualities that help improve conditions of rheumatism and arthritis.

In horses, Devil’s Claw is used in cases of arthritis when there is pain or inflammation, any form of degenerative joint disorder or bony changes resulting in inflammation.

Tests carried out in Germany have shown the analgesic and

anti-inflammatory effects of Devil’s Claw to be comparable with cortisone and phenylbutazone, without any attendant side effects.

Equine Directions:

¨Add 1 litre of boiling water to 8 heaped teaspoons of Devil’s Claw.

¨Allow the tea to stand for 12 hours.

¨Strain & store in an airtight container.

¨Add 30ml to your horse or pony’s feed once a day.  In severe cases it can be fed twice daily.

Granules can be added to food if you don't want to brew - however absorption is not as good as in the liquid format.
