Antique Staffordshire William III of Orange Zodiac Pitcher Jug c 1820 Masonic
Staffordshire Transfer William III Jug, with black transfer decoration and pink lustre decoration on the rim and handle. The engraving of William III titled "Gulielmus III Prince of Orange" is signed "Thom. Badderley Hanley". Thomas Badderley was an engraver who worked in Staffordshire in the first part of the 19th century.
The sides are adorned with a stylized chart full of symbols with the signs of the Zodiac around the edges. Rather mysterious -- looks Masonic. No makers' mark.
The pitcher is 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide from spout to handle. It weighs 2 lb 9 oz (shipping weight 5 lbs)
Condition: Good overall. No chips, some glaze wear as shown, and a couple of tiny spiders in the body, one under the spout and another near the base of the handle, as shown, and one small line in the base. Please view the detail photos.
