Model 850,1964 rare transitional, rare platinum blonde bubble cut, side parting Barbie (slightly oxidised over time to light a golden blonde/light ginger colour) with American girl (issued 1965) inner head markings on the inner rim of her head reading: copyr.© 1958 Mattel Inc, which make her the rarest of the bubble cuts. She has the larger neck knob, and puffier bouffant bubble than the others, with a fuller face. But Mattel did always mix their doll production around a bit being frugal in business, so creating these one offs for collectors to track down as rare items in the Barbie world. Her head is a 1963, though there are still white gingers with blue eyes and eye shadow, so she's one of the two, and they are both the rarest. Variations again on her toes and nails occur, as well as make up. Her body is marked: Midge T.M.©1962 Barbie® ©1958 by Mattel,Inc.Patented. But her body is definitely a 1964, as Mattel added the word Patented in 1964. So this is a cross over doll from the factory where very often parts from previous issued dolls were used for the production of the next one. There were many hair variations in the fullness of the hairstyle, and lip and colour variations during her production, but this lady has blue eyes, blue eye shadow, matching light ginger eyebrows and pink flaky lips. Her nails and toenails are also flaky pink. She comes with no clothes but would have worn a red jersey swimsuit with red open toe stiletto shoes, white pearl stud earrings, and come with a gold stand, box and fashion catalogue as a 1964. All not included. She has firm poseable limbs and stands freely with shoes, as well as no signs of green ear anywhere, and a full set of hair with no missing plugs as I can see. She has no splits, chew marks or stains and while her body tone does have a slight variation, this is not as dark as the photos suggest, as the lighting was dark and difficult when taking pics, and hence the side ways pictures also with my iphone that ebay uploading altered regardless of my rotating beforehand either way. I am happy to send newer complete sets of pictures if requested but getting her listed now non the less, as is. Japan marked foot, and again under her instep as opposed to along under her whole sole in capitol letters.
