Sir William Robertson Nicoll CH (October 10, 1851 – May 4, 1923) was a Scottish Free Church minister, journalist, editor, and man of letters.

Thomas Seccombe (1866—1923) was a miscellaneous English writer and, from 1891 to 1901, assistant editor of the Dictionary of National Biography, writing over 700 entries.


CONDITION:

The binding is bumped and rubbed to extremities with some small loss to surface of leather in places, especially around the hinges. The spine is bumped and rubbed especially to top and bottom edges. The binding and text block remains firm. Internally, the pages remain mostly bright and clean with just a little age toning and some light foxing to page margins in volume II. An eminently readable copy of this beautifully illustrated, two volume set.
