Antique French Ecclesiastical Goldwork Bullion Embroidery Restoration project

An amazing attic find over 200 years old. Suitable for serious collectors/restorers, this piece of ecclesiastical work is embellished with masses of gold bullion work. The damask fabric on the front and back have been sun damaged, causing the fabric to break up. The silk embroidered flowers have tiny sequins held in place with French knots. All the wire-work/ gold bullion work has remained intact, including the fringing and exquisitely made tassels. It is just possible to read the makers label “MATI, avenue d’Opera, PARIS” on the back. This is an ideal piece for restoring or for collectors; it could be preserved under UV resistant glass, so that it can be seen and enjoyed as a piece of history.

Please contact me for more photos and details if you are considering buying this. This is a precious piece of embroidery history, showing a skill that is very rare nowadays.

Measurements: Approx. 25 inches x 38 inches. (64cm x 97cm) including fringe. The fringe is just under 6 inches/14cm.
