This antique, First Edition book is the highly sought, Civil War book, by Henry S. Foote. The book presents a comprehensive summary of the American Civil War including its causes, campaigns and battles, and the consequences of the war. Rich with details regarding virtually every aspect of the war, this unparalleled overview addresses the campaigns, strategy, battles, politics, human impact, and stories of the war. The book begins with a detailed study of the event in early American history that led up to the Civil War. It covers the debates, political points of view, and actions that precipitated the Civil War before transitioning into a detailed narrative of the battle and campaigns, evolving political context, personalities and events of the war.

THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION

This original, First Edition, 132-year-old, antique book is in excellent overall condition. Bound in textured, lined, dark green covers, the book is clean and has solid binding. The exterior is clean and has no bumping or discernable edge wear. The the spine lable is worn but can still be read. The book comes protected in a clear, acid-free, mylar dust jacket (see photos #2). The interior is clean and the pages are in excellent condition. There isn't a mark in the book; the book has no writing, smudging, foxing, stamps, pasteboards or other markings. It is not an ex-library book. The binding is solid throughout out book and the book has no looseness or lean, but the front hinge has a some light paper cracking. Both hinges are solid. The book contains a frontispiece illustration as well as other illustrations, portraits and maps. The book contains a comprehensive unit roster with the Civil War service details of each leader and soldier. Overall and excellent condition, First Edition book.
