1/32 P-51D Mustang

One of the most recognizable names in WWII fighter aircraft is that of the Mustang. This aircraft kit is the very first in a brand new series from Dragon – that of 1/32 scale aircraft. The P-51D, with its teardrop-shaped canopy and supercharged V-12 Rolls Royce Merlin engine, is considered by many to be the definitive version of the Mustang.

This popular P-51D fighter was a logical subject to launch this new series from Dragon. Taking into consideration Dragon’s vast research, design and advanced technological prowess, as exhibited in Dragon’s amazing 1/35 armor series, modelers will be assured of top quality aircraft models in this promising range. This inaugural 1/32 model abounds in features such as moveable or optional parts, photo-etched components, transparent & DS (Dragon Styrene) plastic elements, slide-molded items, and breathtaking details. All these come together harmoniously in this phenomenal new 1/32 kit of the P-51D Mustang. With its six M2 .50-cal machine guns, this was one powerful fighter. - propeller blades are moveable

- propeller blades with accurately curved cross-section and true-to-scale thickness - propeller can rotate

- nose air intake grill formed from photo-etched parts

Engine Cowling:

- Extra detailed transparent engine cowling

- engine compartment with full detail

- exhaust pipes made by slide molds

- engine cowling cover can be assembled open/closed

- engine cowling frames are delicately rendered

Cockpit & Canopy:

- canopy is made from transparent plastic and comes with rivets details

- canopy can be positioned open/closed

- pilot’s seat is upgraded with photo-etched parts

- instrument panel is made from a clear part

Wings:

- wings with realistic panel lines

- ailerons are movable

- slide-molded machine guns with full assembly

- intricate ammo belts are included

- spent shell exit ports are accurately reproduced

- two types of fuel tanks are available

- rockets and bombs are included

- pylons are exactly reproduced

- camera port is included

- landing gear compartment with interior detail

Landing Gear:

- landing gear can be assembled in taxiing or folded position

- weighted wheels made of DS (Dragon Styrene)

- accurately shaped fuselage with superb details, thanks to slide molds

- engine radiators are included

- rear air outlet can be positioned open/closed

- moveable rudder with realistic texture

About the P-51D:

The North American P-51 Mustang was a successful long range fighter aircraft which entered service with Allied air forces in the middle years of World War II. Its sleek lines make it one of the most distinctively recognizable aircraft of the Second World War.

The P-51 was used mostly as a bomber escort, in raids over Germany; it was a key factor in the defeat of the German Luftwaffe and, by the middle of 1944, gave the Allies complete air superiority over Germany. It also saw significant service against Japanese air forces in the Pacific War, and was the main fighter for the United Nations in the early stages of the Korean War. The P-51 was replaced by jets in Korea but remained in service with some air forces until the early 1980's.

The company has been at the forefront of sheet metal engineering since 1967 and produce components and assemblies for some of the most prestigious automotive manufactureres in the world. Bentley Motor Cars and Rolls-Royce have Radshape manufactured parts from simple bracketry to the face of Bentley, the radiator matrix assembly produced in our Aston based facility. Morgan Motor Cars have numerous parts and assemblies with the entire bonded aluminium chassis structure for the Aero 8 range of vehicles, again produced right here in our bonded structures cell.

Over the years our products have made there way onto some iconic vehicles such as the Subaru Impreza RB320, Richard Burns commerative edition, with grilles designed and made by Radshape. Again also partnering with Prodrive the Mazda RX-8 PZ had styling designed and manufactured by Radshape.
