A lovely Channel Island solid silver table spoon. The spoon is fiddle pattern, initialled 'MTZ' on the handle. It was hallmarked in Jersey in the Channel Islands, and made by Thomas De Gruchy who operated with a single maker's mark from 1822-1831.
Hallmarks: The
spoon is Channel Island hallmarked, with maker's mark only for Thomas De Gruchy. Having maker's mark only on Channel Island silver is completely normal. Some silver was sent to London to be fully hallmarked, but most of the time they did not bother.
Dimensions: It is 20.5cm long and weighs 37.9g.
Condition: The spoon is in good condition, with some surface scratching commensurate with age. No splits or repairs. The tip is very good.
