Unrecorded Thomas Baxter Coalport example c1801.

Here we are offering This Important Remarkable Unrecorded Porcelain Coalport Cache Pot and Stand c1801. Painted in the London Studio of Thomas Baxter by Baxter Himself. THE PROVENANCE OF THIS ITEM IS IT WAS THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE ANTHONY HOBSON, GLEBE HOUSE, WHITSBURY HAMPSHIRE. From around c1800- 1807 the Baxter studio in London would order Coalport blanks, and the London decorators would paint them as to what fashion was popular at the time. Most of Baxter studio decorated Coalport would be painted with floral subjects by the Staff. On very rare occasions subject to only special orders including those from Nelson and Lady Hamilton, Thomas Baxter himself would decorate the porcelain with figures in a crimson palate. Some slightly later examples bear his signature and date. Thats how we know the history behind this very remarkable item, and the Baxter decorated Coalport Examples. This particular example is previously unrecorded, but has been confirmed as by the hand of Thomas Baxter on Coalport Porcelain C1801 by a leading London Expert on Thomas Baxters Work.. The painting has been so finely done with a single hairbrush he must have had a magnifying glass to paint this subject. The subject looks to be a survivor from the Napoleonic Wars drowning his injured leg with a barrel of liquor in a landscape. The Cache Pot and Stand measures 5 inches high by 6 inches wide.

CONDITION THE CACHE POT IS IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR RESTORATION, JUST SOME VERY MINOR GILT LOSS. THE STAND HAS A PERFECTLY RE-STUCK CHIP AS PHOTO SHOWS ON RIM. This item belongs in a Museum. Over the last 15 years, only a few pieces inc 2 bough pots and a vase have turned up at auction painted by Thomas Baxter on Coalport Blanks. Each have made in the thousands of pounds. We have not found another Cache pot by Baxter sold. This is a very historical item, as to the work of the young Thomas Baxter. There will be no Reserve.. Please see below for another slightly later Coalport decorated Baxter painted Vase in the Victoria and Albert Museum.. Good Luck. There will be no reserve.
