You are bidding on a piece of Louis Vuitton history!   This exceptional  custom order trunk is one of the most sought after and rare trunk models in the Louis Vuitton collection. Known as the "Malle Ideale" or ideal trunk, this gorgeous fully restored monogram canvas trunk is circa 1905, it has all the original tabs and leather latches inside as well as a Louis Vuitton key . This trunk has been professionally restored to its original grandeur.The ideal trunk launched in 1905 "offered the dual advantages of holding a lot in a small space and having everything on view as soon as it was open".  Like a giant tool box, customers went wild about the "double topped trunk" which was so convenient and intrinsically masculine. You will ever so rarely see one like this and if you do they are asking 2-3 times my buy it now price.  As you can see in the picture, the 2 doors open from the top and has compartments in it.  Designed by Louis Vuitton to hold five suits, one overcoat, eighteen shirts, underwear, 4 pairs of shoes, a hat, 3 canes and an umbrella.   Not very many of these exist today and especially in this condition and is highly collectable to those that collect Louis Vuitton vintage trunks. The trunk measures approx 19"in Height, 19"in Width, 40" in Length.  The serial number is 168234. This would make for an ideal piece of furniture or accent piece in a home, office or library.  The trunk is in overall great condition inside and out. It is very clean  and has normal signs of wear and tear, from its many travels which one would expect from a trunk that is well over 100 years old but that just adds to the character and charm of this piece.
