This is a new addition to increasing catalogue
of whistles. It is all alloy construction with curved windway to ease
condensation problems that sometimes occur with a flat windway. They also
feature, as with all Shearwater Whistles, a plastic mouthpiece block which also aids in minimising condensation.
These whistles are our normal range of soprano or high D instruments.
Although a little quieter than their wide bore Session cousin they still have a
good clear carrying tone and good volume. Due to having a narrower bore
they use less air. They are ideal for both amateur and the professional
player and have a clear tone.
The sound is warm and mellow, with a clear and carrying voice which makes them ideal for playing with other instruments, whether in sessions, live performances, or in the recording studio. They are ideal for the amateur and professional musician alike.
They have a clear and clean sound in all octaves and breath pressure is even throughout.
It is our philosophy to sell whistles at a realistic price, not at over-inflated prices.
DO NOT rely on an electronic tuner
set at A440 to test tuning as the air temperature affects how the whistle will
read tuning wise. If the air temperature is around 68F then A 440 is
fine. The higher the air temperature the higher your tuner needs to be set and
vice versa.
As these whistles are totally handmade there may be signs of the material
having been worked; this in no way effects the playability but shows they are
handmade.
As with all alloy or aluminium tubed whistles they require warming up before
playing in pitch. This is quite normal.
