A classy silver satin brocade chinoiserie influence dinner dress from our collection of 1940s original vintage clothing. A 1940s 3/4 length wiggle dress is a beautiful silver satin brocade fabric. This classic dinner dress has a rounded neckline with a small slit center front, a loose fitted bodice, short sleeves, a left side metal zipper, folded waist detail that gives the illusion of a diagonal cummerbund and a wide matching belt with a waist fall that can be worn left or right. The back of the dress is plain. The brocade is lovely with floral elements and leaves that look somewhat like lotus blossoms. The dress is well made but has no labels. The approximate measurements of the dress are as follows:
- bust (pit to pit) 40"
- waist 30"
- hips 36"
- shoulder to hem 48"
- shoulder to shoulder back 14 1/2"
- sleeve length 2"
These measurements are approximately equivalent to a US size 8 with roomy bust. The fabric does not have any stretch. This well made dress has an iconic 1940s wiggle dress design - so classy in the silver brocade fabric and 3/4 length. The fabric appears to be rayon or a rayon silk blend. There are no major condition issues with the dress, but this is a vintage garment that is at least 75 years old, and there may be some minor signs of age related wear. There are no underarm issues. I noticed a small rust coloured spot on the back of the skirt - this may come out with dry cleaning (shown). The dress is clean and ready to wear. Beautifully matched with a wide platter hat and pearls as shown (not included), and wouldn't it look great with black gloves (not included). Part of the Antiquarius collection of 1940s original garments. This is NOT a reproduction or a cheap imitation, this is an incredible, original 1940s iconic silver brocade dinner dress with chinoiserie influence, only from Antiquarius Antiques. Please be aware that vintage clothing is neither new nor perfect. In many cases, vintage clothing has been worn and is no longer new, and that is why it is such a good bargain. Excellent antique or vintage condition rarely means new - do not expect new or perfect as there will almost always be some signs of wear, especially with older items. Sometimes we sell newer vintage items that are new old stock (NOS) so they have never been worn and can be in such excellent condition that there are no signs of wear. But some of the garments we sell are 75 years old or more, and even if they were never worn, the fabric may show signs of wear just from being stored all those years. Please assume that older vintage and antique items may have a little dust and/or a few age spots, unless we have specifically stated that we have recently laundered the item. Nevertheless, vintage is a great way to dress extravagantly without having an extravagant budget. You can often find extraordinary examples of antique, vintage or designer items that are wearable textile art and will make you look like a million bucks!
