Beautiful, antique, 18th century (c.1785) tenon or carcass saw by Kenyon- the same sawmaker that made the saws in the famous Benjamin Seaton Tool Chest.  I purchased this saw from a MWTCA member 10 years ago.  The saw plate measures 18-inches at the teeth and the overall length of the saw is a bit over 22-inches.  There is 2-3/8-inches under the back at the toe and 3-1/8-inches at the heel.

There is a faint but unmistakable maker's mark on the steel saw back, and a mottled patina over the saw plate and back.  The handle was scorched many, many, years ago, which left a visible mark and it was later refinished a bit too glossy for my taste, but apart from that the saw is in tight, sound, useable shape.  The saw plate is not perfectly strait, see the photo.  This does not affect its use or performance in any way.  It cuts beautifully.

Please see photos for condition details.

Mike Wenzloff of Wenzloff & Sons, sharpened this saw for me when I bought it.  Wenzloff Saws now sells an "Early Kenyon Saw" based in part on this saw.  It is currently filed crosscut at 10 tpi.  I have used it gently since it was sharpened. and remains sharp.  Not too many saws of this age, in this condition are out there.  It would make a great addition to any collection of early saws or 18th century tools.  Included with the saw will be a printout of email correspondence between myself and the seller (2006) with some additional information.

The saw will be well-packaged in a sturdy box.
