Ok so let’s start with it’s a 79' Vette so what can be special? Well how about one owner? How about an upgraded motor to the optional L82? How about one owner and purchased locally? How about under 7700 original miles? How about original paint per the only owner with the exception of one bumper and a little scratch repair on one rear quarter? How about the upgraded alloy wheels still wearing the original tires?
When we purchased this car from the original owner we knew it was a car that comes along very infrequently. To find a Vette still in the hands of its original owner is a really rare occasion. To find a Vette in the hands of its original owner that has never been messed with is almost unheard of. We are glad to own it and be offering it up for sale.
Starting with the exterior the original dark brown metallic paint we’d say the paint is in very nice condition. It took a buff and shined up very well. As to be expected with any 35 plus year old paint there are imperfections and minor blemishes in the paint. A lot of people would call it patina. It’s certainly not anything you’d consider painting and at most car shows I seem to see people fawning over the original cars, even with their occasional warts. The doors open and close like only an original car can. Weather seals are good and functional.
The original tires are mounted on a larger, more aggressive alloy wheel offered on corvettes in 1979. The owner told is the story as to how the Chevy dealer had to make some small relief cuts on the inside front fenders to accommodate the big meat tires. Nothing noticeable but a cool story.
When we brought her back to life we did all the things necessary to refresh this great old car- fluids, brakes, fuel system etcetera and today she runs through the gears of her automatic transmission and performs like a 7000-mile car should. The tires being original should, in our opinion, be used for show purposes only. All the gauges and systems work just like they should and this is a very nice car mechanically.
The interior is in marvelous condition with the tan leather seats and the balance of the interior presenting itself very well. Power windows work perfectly. T-tops come off with ease and the rubber seals are all good.
