A BARGAIN BUY!!  ON SALE NOW!! Offered here is a spectacular 660 gram etched crusted slice of the Campo del Cielo iron meteorite. This slice has both faces (front and back) etched which exhibits the meteorite's pronounced Widmanstatten pattern. Professionally etched, this slice measures approximately 87mm x 75mm x 19mm thick. The Campo del Cielo meteorite was first brought to attention when a 1576 Spanish expedition to the New World learned of its existence from indigenous peoples of Argentina.

Since 2008 the Argentine government prohibited the exportation of meteorites from the country. This meteorite was obtained prior to the ruling, therefore, it is legal to own this piece. The meteorite is classified as an IAB MG Coarse Octahedrite iron meteorite and its composition is that of a high concentration of nickel-iron with inclusions of Kamacite, Taenite, and small amounts of Troilite and possible Schreibersite.

This Campo slice is priced to own and with both sides etched it displays beautifully. You may find mention of the Campo del Cielo meteorite in the "Meteoritical Bulletin" number 36, 1966
