Boss FBM1 Fender Bassman Digital Emulation Effect Pedal, Lightly Used

Never gigged, lightly used.

Note: small four digit numeral security code was engraved on the back of this pedal, otherwise no significant wear and tear.

No power adapter. No instruction manual. Bought used at Guitar Center years and years ago. Doubt this is still made by the way.

additional details/review:

Only thing I'll say about this pedal, I couldn't get my grit to clean-up with the guitar's volume knob. This can't be done like a true tube amp at the digital price point. Fets or Transistors are a different story.

But here's the thing~

Give it a chance.

This pedal will boost a 2 transistor fuzzface's output like no-one's business. There's something really warm about it, even though it's digital realm. Give it that much, at least if it disappoints you at first. I really grew to like it simply as that cool niche line boost. But recognize where it'll go in your chain.

In back of that fuzz's position? That's what I think someone might be looking for. There's other 'unity' type boosts, that play nicer in-between a wah and fuzz. It's probably best to just design both of those to work together on their own. But not all fuzz circuits are tweaked to be hot on their output. Sometimes they leave you clinging for more. This was how I ended up. I put it on the output of a standard fuzz circuit (even a dialed back Tonebender), and it stayed there; set it, leave it.

The Bassman amp itself, is a little more edgier than it's cousins to come later (Blackface ect) but this pedal's voice seems to have a recognizable clean bell tone? It's a subjective opinion I know, but I liked having that tone when all the modulated stuff came off, and it was just this pedal going back to the amp.

I always thought there was something to the FBM-1, it always perked up my ears. But I was frustrated until I understood it's strengths in time. Fender lead tones, even for metal...have that distinct top note? Something to consider, if you need that swiss army knife type "lead" boost, somewhere on the pedal board going back to the amp input. Guitar cables add capacitance, they dampen tone, the longer they get. Even as a line boost, the right amp circuit, takes to this emu tone very well.

Thanks for looking, check out my other auctions being inserted for this holiday weekend, and good luck bidding.
