At Barrett-Jackson auction Scottsdale in Sept. 23, 2003, the Opening Night Gala was for the 80th birthday celebrating Carroll Shelby. His birthday is Sept. 11. They were recognizing his contribution to the automotive world and he was joined by legendary drivers Dan Gurney, Bob Bondurant, Parnelli Jones, Arie Luyendyk, Augie Pabst, Bobby Unser and Bobby Rahal. Shelby received a commemorative trophy commissioned by Edsel Ford II and a birthday greetings letter from fellow Texan, President George W. Bush.


This model was released for Carroll Shelby Children's Foundation to celebrate his 80th Birthday. The model

was initially available to participants at the Opening Night Gala. It was a limited edition of only 1224.


This 1965 R model is highly detailed. It has a chrome finish with blue painted stripes and number 98.

The doors open to a highly detailed interior that is carpeted. Trunk opens to reveal the fuel cell

and battery.


Hood opens to a fantastic detailed engine used on the R model. The chassis is also detailed.


The model comes with the original box.I seem to have miss placed the COA.


Car is in excellent condition. The model has only been out of the box a few times to take pictures.
