Description
Exceptionally Rare Alpa Standard 35mm Rangefinder Camera w/Angenieux 50mm F2.9 Alpar Lens. Contrary to it's appearance, this is not an SLR camera. The cosmetics are superb, no dents. There are a couple of marks on the bottom, otherwise the camera is spotless. The shutter is working but the speeds are inaccurate. The lens is somewhat cloudy and there are some hairline scratches and wipe marks. The rangefinder is working. Was made in small quantities from 1946-1952. Only about 8000 were made.
What is the difference between a scratch in the glass of a lens and a hairline wipe mark? A scratch can be felt when you gently run a fingernail across it and a hairline wipe mark is only in the coating and cannot be felt. A scratch may refract light if its deep enough. A wipe mark won't.
Vintage means usable but not necessarily perfect optically, mechanically or cosmetically.
