Here we have on offer a custom built 2 channel valve microphone preamplifier module. We had a vintage British EMI module that was in need of restoration so have completely rebuilt a module to take some of the original parts. Vintage Mullard EF86 input valves, vintage Brimar ECC88 output valves. 1960s professional microphone input transformers which can be wired as either 5:1 or 10:1 step up depending on what input impedance you require. Great if you had a switch to select that and have input impedance selection.

Total gain is 50db with a very clean and warm British sound.
Fully rebuilt using high grade oversized resistors and capacitors. Fully tested and working on my bench power supply and audio test equipment

This will be supplied ready for you to connect to your power supply and enclosure. So a bit of a DIY project with most of the hard work already done.... these are regarded as the finest sounding mic preamp type units available and would cost thousands to buy anything similar once completed

Same valve line up as found in units like the vintage EM consoles from the 1960s

  • Vintage EMI microphone input transformers
  • Transformer balanced line outputs
  • EF86 and ECC88 valves in each chan
  • Around 50/60 db gain depending on how input TX configured
  • Perfect for mics from low impedance, 200 ohm, 250 ohm, 600 ohm and even 50 ohm for vintage types
  • Will be supplied fully tested and working
  • I will also include input level pots for the mic inputs and a gain setting rotary switch
  • Will run 2 x VU meters from bridge rectifiers fitted
  • Requires around 280v DC HT at module input, smoothed DC and 6.3v AV heaters

We can help out on all the other parts you might want to build and get the unit working. Power supply parts, racks and anything else

Can also be configured for line input and lower gain if you wanted to use on high end Hi Fi systems to add in some valve magic or perfect for passive EQ make-up gain stages as found in things like the Pultecs and similar

See photos of some racks that have been completed using similar modules as an example... Racks NOT included in sale and are for ref only
