The outer silver case measures 55 m.m. edge to edge. and has a very nice watch paper by a listed maker James Scott of Kendal, just to round it off. The inner case with the watch measures 49 m.m. both cases are well hallmarked for London 1832 with the same case makers mark W .H. all clips work well on the cases and worth noting that the stem has never been repaired. the inner case with the watch has a previous owners monogram J J on the back and nice bit of provenance.
weight of the watch is 125 grms a very good weight for a silver pair case pocket watch.
The glass is high bull nose.
The Masonic later painted enamel dial is very clean and in good condition with very bright colours it has a number of Masonic symbols, that are very well painted with a lot of detail this is the original dial for this watch. with Roman numerals for the hours. with gold hands.
The fire gilt movement has a very nice pierced and engraved balance cock with a regulator, fine round pillars, signed Roberts London a listed maker with the number 53996, It runs to the full length of the chain, with a time variation of only C 1 minute per hour, and has just been serviced, It just goes to show what very good watchmaker Roberts was to have made this very fine watch and for it to run so very well after all these years keeping better than verge time, it will come with a the original as shown key. both Roberts and James Scott are very well listed in " Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World" by Brian Loomes and G. H. Baillie
Wonderful to have this ultimate Masonic watch it would make a great conversation piece when you wear it at the lodge meetings. This is a very well priced watch, and so well presented, An absolute must for any serious collector or would make a wonderful present.
