Rail Power Products was founded by Dana Stark in 1987, to manufacture HO scale locomotive shells that were not offered by major manufacturers.  The shells were designed to fit on Athearn frames with modifications.

The shells were very popular with model railroaders who liked to create their own unique fleet of locomotives, or who wanted to model those rarer locomotives that the railroads used.

Athearn bought out Rail Power Products in 1987 and continued to offer the shells (and other custom parts) for several years.  They no longer have RPP locomotive shells in stock.  Other web sites offer some of the original RPP shells at prices ranging from $20 to $35.
