Item:  Antique “RIDGWAYS” Mother Goose Bowl

Description:   For sale is a quite old cereal bowl made of English Porcelain by the “RIDGWAY POTTERY” Company.   This particular plate is part of their Mother Goose Collection.  It measures 8” across by 1.5" deep.   Below is a brief history of the Ridgway Company until their merger with Booths& Colclough in the 1940’s and later Royal Doulton in the 1960’s.  I am sure my photos will best further describe the plate itself.

Ridgway Pottery was one of the earliest Staffordshire potteries, founded by Ralph Ridgway during 1744. However, it was in 1792, the brothers George and Job Ridgway registered Ridgway Potteries Limited at Bell Works, North Staffordshire, England. It was here that the first type of Ridgwayware was produced.  The Ridgwayware included dessert, tea, and dinner services, and they competed with Mintonware as well as with the products from Spode, Rockingham, and Worcester. However, it was the Ridgway's high quality earthenware with blue printed designs that were extremely popular.   John, William Ridgway & Company continued to make attractive dishes, but not in the old blue printed designs. Ridgway Pottery later merged with the Booths & Colclough China Company during the 1940’s, and later became a part of Royal Doulton in the 1960’s.

Condition:   For being at least 70 years old, this plate is in Excellent Condition.  There are absolutely ZERO Cracks.   Its only sign of age is  some very slight wear to the gold trim around the outside edge surrounding the alphabet.  My photos are an accurate depiction of this item’s TRUE Condition.
