Asics was formed in 1949 under Onitsuka Co. Ltd. when brand founder Kihachiro Onitsuka started manufacturing basketball shoes, before branching out into a variety of sporting activities.
Onitsuka became a household name throughout the 50's 60's & 70's thanks in part to it variety of Olympic styles, made famous in their endorsement by athletes on a global scale. The classic Mexico 66 style was a standout of the area and featured the brands' now famous crossed stripes logo.
In 1977 Asics was born out of the merger between Onitsuka Tiger, GTO and JELENK. Onitsuka still retain the original Asics styles, and sell them under the Onitsuka Tiger label.
Shuperb are proud to be affiliated with a brand with such a rich heritage and we offer some of the best of the Asics/Tiger range including retro 90's classics like the Gel Kayano and the Gel Lyte ranges.
