Rare Sung Dynasty (960-1279) Lung Chuan Yao porcelain jar. Beautifully shaped, and covered with pleasing green celadon glaze, and vertical ribbing down sides. Solidly built. 2.75” high, 3” across, at widest point. Delicacy of coloring and subtle softness of texture, a unique and beautiful piece. Very good condition, except for a 1” blemish that appears to have happened in the firing of the piece. It does not seem to detract from the overall aesthetic feel of the piece; may actually add character and ethos. Some light wear, of course, commensurate with it’s age, but no significant damage or repairs. PROVENANCE: Freeman’s Auction, 9/13/2014, Henry Gibson Collection of Fine and Rare Asian Works of Art
